Catalyst Investors is a $1 billion venture capital firm which was founded in 2000.[2] It is a private equity firm focused on late stage venture capital and growth equity investments in technology-enabled services which include cloud computing, wireless infrastructure, and digital media.It is ranked by growth cap among the top 25 growth equity firms.[1]
The New York-based firm was founded in 2000 by Brian Rich,[3] Ryan McNally, and Chris Shipman. Rich had previously founded TD Capital, the private equity investment arm of TD Bank, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors[4] for the National Venture Capital Association.
Investments
Catalyst is currently investing its fourth and latest fund, which closed above target[5] at $377 million in 2015[6]
According to the Financial times, Catalyst’s realized investments include SaaS-based anti-virus provider MessageLabs (acquired by Symantec[7]), Hispanic broadcaster Telemundo (acquired by NBC Universal[8]), Aloha Partners (acquired by AT&T), and Mindbody as reported by the Wall Street Journal,[9] which went public in 2015.[10]
The firm’s current investments include Alert Solutions, Ascentis, Clinicient,[11][12] Decisyon,[13] InSite Wireless,[14] Latisys, MediaMath, Mindbody,[15] Reputation Institute,[16] Videology,[17][18] WeddingWire[19] and Xplornet.
