Student Movement 2014
During the Student Movement on September 2014, the CECYT 2 actively participated in cooperation with other CECYT's of the IPN (Instituto Politecnico Nacional) to abolish recent changes to the University's curriculum and rules. During this time members from an organization known as "COSAC" (Comision Organizadora del CECYT 2) and members of the "AGP" (Asamblea General Politecnica) accused the school's principal for being involved in money laundering. According to COSAC and AGP, students from the CECYT 2 were forced to pay fees that would get falsely submitted as donations in order to continue enrolled each semester; "forced donations", students called them. These donations would never get submitted officially to the University's funds. The scandal caused the principal to quit her job in early 2015, with no charges because a investigation could not be followed due to the lack of a General University Principal at the time. Later, "COSAC" created a Student Committee and through a series of round-tables with school officials, teachers and staff, they designed a process to elect a new principal. The process took almost a year and it ended in the election of Pedro Escobar Ballesteros as the new Principal.
