Buddleja 'Podaras2', selling name Flutterby Grande Sweet Marmalade is a sterile hybrid cultivar raised by Peter Podaras whilst at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and patented in 2011. Sweet Marmalade is a selection from the progeny arising from the crossing of B. marrubiifolia with B. crispa.
Description
Flutterby Grande Sweet Marmalade has an upright habit, growing to 1.8 × 1.8 m, with terminal and axial globular panicles of faintly fragrant orange flowers. The opposite, narrowly ovate leaves are about 5.5 cm long by 3 cm wide with a lanulose upper surface, and a petiole 1 cm long.
Cultivation
Flutterby Grande Sweet Marmalade is not known (2012) to be in cultivation beyond the USA. The shrub is reputedly hardy to - 29° C.
References
Released in 2011, the cultivar has yet to appear in literature. The only reference (2012) is the US patent application given.
