WWE
WWE Performance Center and training (2013–2015)
On May 12, 2013, it was reported that Scherr had signed with the professional wrestling promotion WWE. He was later assigned to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, where he adopted the ring name Braun Stowman.[1] He made his wrestling debut at a NXT live event in Jacksonville, Florida on December 19, 2014, defeating Chad Gable.[4] On June 2, 2015, Strowman appeared at a Main Event taping in a dark match, where he defeated an unknown wrestler.[8]
The Wyatt Family (2015–2016)
On August 24, 2015 episode of Raw, Scherr, now under the tweaked ring name Braun Strowman,[9] made his main roster debut by attacking Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns and establishing himself as the newest member of the Wyatt Family alongside Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper.[10][11] Strowman had his first televised match on August 31 episode of Raw, defeating Ambrose via disqualification.[12] Strowman wrestled in his first pay-per-view match on September 20 at Night of Champions, where he, Wyatt, and Harper defeated Reigns, Ambrose, and Chris Jericho in a six-man tag team match after Strowman forced Jericho to pass out with a lifting arm triangle choke.[13] At TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, The Wyatt Family defeated The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley), Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno in a eight-man tag team elimination tables match[14] Strowman appeared in the 2016 Royal Rumble match and scored among the most eliminations in the match with 5 before being eliminated by Brock Lesnar. Strowman later returned to the match to eliminate Lesnar along with his fellow Wyatt Family members.[15] Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer wrote that Strowman was "put over as a monster" in the match.[16] At Fastlane, The Wyatt Family lost to the team of Ryback, Big Show and Kane. However, the next night on Raw, The Wyatt Family defeated Ryback, Big Show and Kane in a rematch. Strowman would appear at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Texas during The Rock and John Cena's confrontation with The Wyatt Family. The Wyatt Family were featured on poster-art for Payback and were originally scheduled to face the League of Nations at the event, but the match was cancelled after Bray Wyatt suffered an injury. In July, The Wyatt Family began a feud with the WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day which saw them defeat the champions in a non-title match at Battleground.
Undefeated Streak (2016–present)
As part of the 2016 WWE draft, Strowman was drafted to Raw while Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan were drafted to SmackDown), thus displacing Strowman from The Wyatt Family and beginning his singles career. On the following weeks on Raw, Strowman, with a modified appearance, defeated newcomer James Ellsworth and several other local wrestlers who put up no major challenge, and prior to each match, the local athlete would be interviewed by Byron Saxton. On the September 5 episode of Raw, established star Sin Cara challenged Strowman due to him disrespecting Luchadors, but Sin Cara would go on to lose by count-out and then by pinfall the following week. On the October 17 episode of Raw, after easily defeating three local competitors in a 1-on-3 handicap match, Strowman was confronted by Sami Zayn.[17] The week after, Strowman was scheduled to compete against Zayn, but the match never started as both men attacked each other before the match. On the October 31 episode of Raw, Strowman won a battle royal last eliminating Zayn for a spot on Team Raw at the Survivor Series event. At the event, Strowman was the first man to be eliminated from Team Raw after he was counted out due to interference by James Ellsworth. Team Raw subsequently lost the match.
