Bolsheretsk
Bolsheretsk or Bolsheretsky jail — abandoned village on the West coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, before jail and a commanding position on the Peninsula, was located at the confluence of Rapid river Big (now R. Plotnikova), on the plain.
Jail was founded in 1703 on the river Bolshaya 50 km from its confluence with the sea of Okhotsk. In 1707 the rebels destroyed the Itelmens. In 1711 was rebuilt following the river on its right Bank between the river and the Quick Gilzovka.
Bolsheretsky jail was represented by a square earthwork with a side of 21.6 m, on a crest it was dug a palisade of poles. In 1715 poles were replaced by a log fence. Fortifications lasted until the beginning of 1770-ies.
In addition to the state buildings, churches and stores in the monastery were houses in 1726 there were 17 residential yards, in 1738, when visiting S. P. Krashennikov — 33, 1773 — 41. By the nineteenth century, has come to perfect decline since 1823 and consisted of a ramshackle Church, and 10 yards. In the early twentieth century (1909) — 19 yards. The village was situated on several Islands separated by channels.
In the eighteenth century the population was military: in 1727 to 40 people., 1759 — 79, 1775-152, 1799 — 24 people To the XIX century (1810), the population grew to 150 people of both sexes. Main occupation of the inhabitants is fishing, hunting, gardening and cattle breeding.
In the eighteenth century Bolsheretsky Ostrog was an important transit point on the sea route from Okhotsk to Kamchatka, through which passed many expeditions EN route to the Kuril Islands and in the Northern part of the Pacific ocean.
In 1739, on Bolsheretsky shipyard built sloop "Bolsheretsk".
Between 1740 and 1803, the years in bolsherechk the residence of the Kamchatka commanders. In 1770 convicts P. F. Khruschov, M. A. benevskaya and other organized Bolshereche rebellion. They killed the commandant nil, captured the galliot "Saint Peter" and sailed to France.
In the nineteenth century Ostrog was renamed into the village Bolsheretsk. In 1928 the village was abolished, the inhabitants moved to the Bayou', where the village of kavalerskoe, and to the mouth of the Great river, village of Ust-Bolsheretsk, from 1926 which became the center of Ust-Bolsheretsky District.
