Becca Stevens is an American jazz, pop, and folk singer, and guitarist.[1] Jazz vocalist Kurt Elling listed her as one of his five favorite jazz vocalists[2] and music critic Ted Gioia listed her albums Weightless (2011) and Perfect Animal (2015) among the one hundred best albums of the corresponding years.[3][4]
She has collaborated with pianists Taylor Eigsti, Timo Andres, and Brad Mehldau, in addition to Grammy award-winning jazz ensemble Snarky Puppy. Stevens leads the Becca Stevens Band, with Liam Robinson on accordion and keyboards, Chris Tordini on bass, and Jordan Perlson on drums and percussion. Along with Gretchen Parlato and Rebecca Martin, Stevens comprises one third of the group Tillery.[5][6]
Stevens grew up in North Carolina She attended the North Carolina School of the Arts and studied classical guitar, then went to The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, where she received a degree in vocal jazz and composition.[7][6]
