History

The Beausejour Gymnos Gymnastics Club was founded by Marie-Paul Savoie in 1971. Marie-Paul had no formal training herself when she started the recreational club, having only started with 10 gymnasts and using Beausejour School gym. As the club continued to grow, Marie-Paul's husband, Don Savoie, became Marie-Paul's right-hand man.

In 1984, Nathalie Colpitts took over for the husband and wife team and the club moved numerous times looking for a permanent location. Finally in August 2003 the club moved into the Dud James Arena. Under Marie-Paul and Don Savoie and Nathalie Colpitts, the club has continued to have many successes winning numerous awards. However, the focus remains to provide high quality programs for all levels of interests, and differing abilities.[1] In 2007, Tanya McMahon became new head coach.[2]

The club has over 600 athletes and continues to grow.
