Aurora Gardens Academy
Aurora Gardens Academy was a private school located in lower Algiers, on the Westbank of New Orleans, Louisiana at 2200 Hudson Place adjacent to the Mississippi River.
The school was founded by the Scullin family in the early 1960s and closed in 1994. Part of the Aurora Gardens property was used in the Battle of New Orleans. This was the only school in the New Orleans area that used the Carden Method of phonetics.
The original location of Aurora Gardens Academy is now occupied by a small gated subdivision. The 2200 block of Hudson place has been renamed "Navigation Court".
The school was located on the very edge of the battlefield, Battle of New Orleans, where Gen. Andrew Jackson had a redoubt of cannons across the river (west bank) January 8, 1815. [1]
