The At-Taqwa Mosque (Chinese: 大園清真寺; pinyin: Dàyuán Qīngzhēnsì) is a mosque in Dayuan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. It is the seventh and latest mosque built in Taiwan.[4][5][6]
History
The mosque development started from an Indonesian-Taiwanese couple who own an Indonesian shop around the area where most of the Indonesian workers work at the factories or households. They purchased an empty land beside their shop to build a mosque. With the help of funding and lending from various organizations, the mosque could finally be constructed a year later. The mosque was officially opened on 9 June 2013.[2][7]
Activities
Beside hosting the normal five compulsory daily prayers for Muslims, the mosque also regularly held classes, such as Mandarin language.[8]
Architecture
This 130 square meter mosque is 26 meters in length and 5 meters in width. The building consists of three stories, in which the first story is dedicated for the male prayer hall, second story is for female prayer hall and guest room, and the third floor is for classes and dormitories.[9]
Transportation
At-Taqwa Mosque is accessible North West from Taoyuan Station of the Taiwan High Speed Rail. In the future, the mosque will be closer served from Dayuan Station of the Taoyuan Metro.
