Assyrian Aid Society
The Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq or AAS-Iraq, originally founded as the Assyrian Aid and Social Society in north Iraq, is an Assyrian organization established for the purpose of providing humanitarian aid to Assyrian Christians in the Assyrian homeland, Bet Nahrain.
The AAS was established in direct response to the humanitarian crisis following the 1991 Gulf War and the hardships suffered by the Assyrian people during Saddam Hussein's rule in Iraq. Its headquarters is located in Dohuk, Iraq.
The current AAS President is Ashur Sargon Eskrya. Autonomous independent Assyrian Aid Societies in the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, and Sweden help fund AAS humanitarian projects in Iraq.
