The song reached #6 on the Billboard chart and the Canadian R&B chart,[1] #8 on the U.S. R&B chart,[2] and #61 on the Canadian pop chart[3] in 1967. The song appeared on their 1968 album Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie.[4]

The song was produced by Jerry Ross and arranged by Joe Renzetti.[5]

Bobby Hebb was originally offered "Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie", but he rejected the song due to the song's novelty sound. After Hebb declined, Ross offered the song to Jay & the Techniques.[6]
