Ántero Flores Aráoz Esparza (b.Feb. 28,1942) is a Peruvian lawyer and politician. He is a leader of the Christian People's Party and a member of National Unity.
He studied in the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He first ran for the Congress of Peru in 1985 as a member of the Popular Christian Party, but was not elected. In 2004 he was elected President of the Congress of the Republic of Peru, the only opposition Congress President during the presidency of Alejandro Toledo. On December 2, 2006, he received the post of Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States. Beginning in 2007 he has served as Defense Minister of Peru as well.[1]
He attended the funeral of Pope John Paul II.
He has been active in repressing terrorism by las Fuerzas Armadas (FF.AA).[2]
