Angloinfo is an online global media network, with websites covering more than 100 destinations serving the English-speaking international community and expats.[1][2]

As a free-to-use English-language website,[3] Angloinfo serves expats who don’t speak the local language fluently. It covers hundreds of how-to topics on all aspects of expat life in the locality, including moving, relocation, residency, visas, accommodation, working, healthcare, education, finance, family, transport and lifestyle.[4][5][6] It has more than 500,000 registered users and serves, on average, more than 2 million monthly visitors.[7]

Angloinfo also conducts research into expat trends, demographics and opinion.[8][9][10][11]

Angloinfo is often referred to as a good online resource in English in tourist guides for various regions in the world, and it is a popular source for newcomer expats in different countries.[12][13][14] The company’s main revenue stream comes from advertising.

History

The company was founded in 1999 by Mike Hardaker[15][16] and Wendy Wilson,[17][18] and Angloinfo French Riviera was the first region to go live 1 September 2000. Six new sites were launched in 2005 and by 2015 Angloinfo covered more than 100 expat destinations around the world. Angloinfo is partly venture capital funded.[19][20][21] The most notable investor is Elderstreet Investment which has funded a recent website rebuild and supports the continuing worldwide expansion.[22] Angloinfo is now run by Chief Operating Officer, James Jackson.[23] Its headquarters are in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

Awards, partnerships and memberships

In 2016, Angloinfo was voted Best Expat Website as part of The Expat Survey Consumer Awards.[24] It was the runner-up in the categories for Best Expat Newsletter and Best Expat Blog.

Angloinfo is an official partner of the UK’s Electoral Commission for its overseas voters and regularly supports campaigns and communications for the Electoral Commission, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and embassies and consulates around the world.[25][26]

Franchising

Roughly half of Angloinfo’s sites are franchised, usually run by an expat based in the local vicinity to provide an on and off-line presence in the region.[27] Franchisees are responsible for managing their site day to day.
