Alberni Street (Vancouver)
Alberni Street is a road in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. Previously considered a non-descript commercial street, in the 2010s the street has been transformed into a center for fine restaurants[1] as well as a recent influx of high-end luxury retail stores,[2] beginning with a flagship store for De Beers diamonds that opened in 2013, and now including stores for numerous other luxury brands. Frequently compared to Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, it is especially popular with wealthy Asian tourists who are drawn to the street by landmark hotels such as the Hotel Vancouver and the Shangri-La.[3]
