A Paying Ghost (Marathi : अ पेईंग घोस्ट) [2] is a Marathi language film. This is a fiction story based on a famous novel authored by V.P. Kale. The movie directed by Sushrut Bhagwat. Screenplay & dialogue has been written by Sanjay Mone. The movie is produced by Jayant Lade, Lade Bros Films Pvt. Ltd. This was the first marathi film which done with 70 minutes of visual effects.Producer of the film doesen't want to sacrifice with the visual effects hence he choose Om kamal who done Mad Max: Fury road, Captain America, Independence day as a VFX artist. It was a box office failure

Plot

[3]The movie, “Paying Ghost”, is based on a comedy fiction by renowned Marathi novelist, Late P. V. Kale. It picturizes typical life of a Mumbai resident and how a ghost helps him to overcome the challenges in daily life. Madhav is a simpleton and kind hearted person. Madhav is staying alone in Anand Ashram Chawl; he has no parents or siblings. His neighbor, Vrunda a girl next door, likes him and always tries hard to win his heart by favoring him. But Madhav is after another girl, Madhavi, in his office. Vasant, Madhav’s only friend and savor in difficult times, tries to play cupid between them. But it ends up in certain kind of funny situation in the office. One night, Madhav returning late from office comes across a family of ghost, Gajanan Ekbote, wife Shevanta Ekbote with their six daughters. The family had no place to stay hence they request, can they be his Paying Guests. In return, Gajanan Ekbote promises they will take care of Madhav’s house, do all house works and keep it up-to-date. Although scared and unsure of the future, as Madhav is not used to say no to anyone, he agrees. Hence the movie name, Paying Ghost. Now, funny, humorous but helpful events start happening. Slowly Madhav becomes habitual of this new abnormal family living with him. One day, Vasant, Madhav’s close friend tells him that Madhavi is getting married. Knowing Madhav’s nature the ghost couple, Gajanan and Shevanta Ekbote takes initiative and make things happen that results in Madhav and Madhavi marriage. Later on Madhavi also notices presence of unseen people in her house. Madhav tells her the truth. The journey goes very exciting while unleashing all these mysteries. Note-Latest VFX animation technology is employed to create seamless special effects. The ghosts in this movie are shown as normal human figures and characters. This movie does not contain any nudity, coarse language, sex, horror and scary scenes, etc.

DOMESTIC

Prior to A Paying ghost's public release, Lade Bros. Films PVT LTD hosted a private screenings on 28 May 2015 at cities like Mumbai,Aurangabad,Nagpur,Kolhapur,Pune and some other cities.Lade Bros. Films then showed A Paying Ghost to some of the Marathi & Bollywood industry's filmmakers and actors in a first-look screening at the Fun Republic Theatre on May 29, 2015. On the following day, the film was screened at 200 screens.

OVERSEAS

It becomes the first marathi film to screen ovearseas in more than 20 cities.It was screened in UK - london,red fort,birmingham,leinchester,slough,manchester,Europe-Germany, Switzerland, holland,United States- bay area,richmond, Australia- sydeny,adelaide,melbourne, the Netherlands, New Zealand- aukland, UAE- dubai and Singapore .it was critically and commercially aclaimed by international audience.it shows technical strength of regional cinema in world market.

Jayant lade is the youngest producer in marathi cinema who produces film individually at the age of 26. his vision behind the cinema is about to utilize of indian culture and literature through films. Hence he choose BADLI by Va.Pu.Kale.

A Paying Ghost took ₹50 lakh (US$74565.73) on its opening day, with a total of ₹ 2 crore (US$298262.93) on its opening weekend. It has collected more than ₹3.5 crore (US$521960.13) and enters 4th week at more than 200 screens, making it the best performing Marathi film of Visual effects and humour. film releases overseas in 20 cities like UK - london,red fort,birmingham,leinchester,slough,manchester,Europe-Germany, Switzerland, holland,United States- bay area,richmond, Australia- sydeny,adelaide,melbourne, the Netherlands, New Zealand- aukland, UAE- dubai and Singapore and it took 28 lakhs(US$41756.81). film get subcidy for A class from Maharashtra Government of 40 lakh. (US$59652.59). STAR group purchase satellite rights of A Paying Ghost for ₹1 crore (US$149131.47)

Team

Sushrut Bhagwat is its director and Jayant Lade its producer. The leading casts of this movie are Spruha Joshi, Umesh Kamat and others. Sanjay Mone has provided the screenplay and is the writer of this movie, while Vaibhav Joshi is the lyricist and Narendra Bhide is the music director and Avdhoot Gupte, the singer.[11][12]

Music

After winning an award for 'Best Background Score' at the Kalyan International Film Festival for the movie 'Rama Madhav' acclaimed Marathi musician Narendra Bhide kicks off 2015 with composing the score and soundtrack for the Marathi film, 'P.G.'. The film is based on a story by veteran Marathi laureate Vasant Purushottam Kale.[13]
