History
A Lull was first formed in 2009 in Chicago, Illinois, and is named after an Andrew Bird song the band liked.[2] The band toured throughout 2011 and the beginning of 2012 with bands such as Cold War Kids and Gauntlet Hair. Their debut full-length album, Confetti, was released in 2011.[1] According to the Dallas Observer, "in just a few years, [the band has] developed a solid reputation for edgy indie pop and chaotic live performances."[2]
In 2012, the band recorded five new songs, which were released as the EP Meat Market that year.[1] The album, on Lujo Records, received a mixed review by Pitchfork Media, who stated, "here's a warmth to Meat Mountain somewhat absent from the fussier Confetti; it's production's a watercolor haze, and there's some Beach Boys DNA buried deep in their elongated harmonies."[3]
