Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver were the defending champions and successfully defended their title, by defeating Claudia Kohde-Kilsch and Helena Suková 6–7, 6–4, 7–6 in the final.
It was the 6th Tour Championships, 4th title of the year and 108th overall title for Navratilova, and the 5th Tour Championships, 2nd title of the year and 58th overall title for Shriver, in their respective doubles careers. It was also the 10th title for the pair following the conclusion of the 1984 season.
