- 15-16 May - Battle of the Malacca Strait
- 6 & 9 August - Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This forced Emperor of Japan, Hirohito announced surrender of Japan on 15 August and ends World War 2 theatre in Asia.
- 28 August-2 September - Operation Zipper
- 4 September - Japanese forces in Malaya surrendered to the Allies at Penang with signing Penang surrender document on HMS Nelson.
- 12 September - British Military Administration(BMA) was installed in Kuala Lumpur.
